The Man Who Tasted Shapes by Richard Cytowic.
This is a great piece of work by a highly respected MD on a condition known as synesthesia. I found this book to be a completely fascinating work on the brain and the mind, two fields in which I take great interest.
Learnng from the Light. John Lerma M.D. is a hospice doctor in Huston, Texas and will probably develop into a signifigant apologist for spiritual existence in our time. He is committed to consciousness research and to communicating the real meat of the hospice process. He has two books out that are both easily readable. You can read more about Dr. Lerma and his good works at his website which is HERE.
Journey of Souls. Michael Newton Phd. Dr. Newton is psychologist. He has a well researched and passionate perspective on consciousness. I find his writings unlike any other. Click HERE to view his work.
In writing this book on grieving, Van Praagh hopes to offer comfort and reassurance of eternal life, "so that you do not have to go through the rest of your days groping blindly in sorrow and pain," he explains. Yet Van Praagh also offers doses of his own hard-earned wisdom, keeping this guidebook firmly grounded in an earth-smart kind of reality.
Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Could it be possible that there could be a better story teller than Jules Verne? If so, I'd sure like to know who it would be. This is one classic I come back to time after time. Oh to command the language as he does.
Kant. Oh Kant. How could one ever go wrong with "The Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals?" Kant, as always, dismisses the observable as superfelous, and goes deeper to lay the gauntlet at the feet of one's will. One can never go wrong with Kant.
Meditation courses and music.
If one is going to do substantial work with the dying then it is preferable to have a good meditation practice ongoing. There are may teachers and courses out there. I personally like all of them, but since I deal specifically with the dying in my work, I gravitate towards those courses offered by James Van Praagh. All of his meditaiton tools are available on his website.... www.vanpraagh.com
